Abu Dhabi's flagship carrier Etihad Airways has raised its stake in Virgin Australia to 10 percent through open market purchases, reported Reuters.



Lufthansa strike to resume on Tuesday
Cabin crew of German airline Deutsche Lufthansa will strike again on Tuesday and extend work stoppages, after a labour action on Friday over pay and cost-cutting measures brought Frankfurt airport, Germany's busiest, to a standstill.



Turkish Airlines profit beats forecasts
Turkey's national carrier Turkish Airlines beat analysts' forecasts in the second quarter, posting a net profit of US$105 million up from a $93.35 million loss in the same period a year earlier. Sales rose to $2.11 billion from $1.





Aeromexico, Delta to build aircraft service centre in Mexico
Mexico's biggest airline company, Grupo Aeromexico, and Delta Air Lines plan to build and jointly operate an aircraft-maintenance, repair and overhaul centre in the central Mexican city of Queretero, reported Dow Jones Newswires.

Air France-KLM plans to expand its growing maintenance business into China to tap the booming Asian aviation market, reported Reuters.

Saudi Global Ports has awarded Beijing-based China Harbour Engineering Co an estimated US$160 million contract to design and build the second container terminal at Dammam's King Abdul Aziz port, the Saudi Gazette reported.
