IBS solution for LH Cargo
IT solutions provider to the global aviation industry IBS Software has been contracted by Lufthansa Cargo to implement its iCargo solution that will manage the carrier's global air freight shipments.



Cathay cargo down 13 percent
Cathay Pacific Airways, the world's biggest air freight carrier, said its overall cargo revenue so far this year was about 13 percent lower than 2011 due to weak demand and high fuel costs.



Container carriers plan December rate hikes
Major container lines serving the Asia-Europe trade, South Asia and the transpacific have announced plans to hike freight rates in December.





Fiscal cliff threat to US infrastructure
The so-called "fiscal cliff" could trigger a second recession, a two percent decline in gross domestic product and increased unemployment, which would dramatically affect demand for US transportation assets, according to a new report by Fitch Ratings.



Roadways reducing road miles via London Gateway
Roadways Container Logistics, a transportation, container storage and handling company, says London Gateway will reduce road miles for thousands of shippers when Britain's new port opens in Q4 2013, saving fuel and emissions for importers and exporters



Kenya port increases cargo tariffs
Kenya's port of Mombasa said on Tuesday it plans to increase cargo-handling tariffs by 10 percent to match a rise in container traffic at east Africa's main trade gateway to several other countries in the region, reported Reuters.



Safety concerns after
grounding of box ship

The grounding of a 278m container ship near Prince Rupert has raised questions about the risk of oil spills on British Columbia's rugged coastline, reported The Globe and Mail.
