GMR seeks $800m for cancellation of airport deal
An Indian-Malaysian consortium led by GMR Infrastructure is seeking compensation of more than US$800 million from the Maldives after the government last week cancelled a deal to run the island nation's main airport and took over operations.

Mitsubishi Aircraft has found a third customer for its planned next generation regional jet, getting a massive order for 100 aircraft from SkyWest valued at US$4.2 billion, reported Dow Jones Newswires.



Court rejects Ryanair appeal over Aer Lingus probe
Britain's Court of Appeal has rejected an attempt by Ryanair to block regulators investigating the budget carrier's minority shareholding in Irish rival Aer Lingus, reported Reuters.





IATA raises airline profitability outlook

AAT November tonnage up 12%
Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT) announced that its tonnage throughput in November 2012 was 69,150 tonnes, 12 percent up year-on-year. Export cargo registered 49,887 tonnes, up 13 percent against the same month last year.



Indian airlines accused of price-fixing
The industry body representing air cargo companies, including FedEx, Gati and Blue Dart, has alleged that the domestic airlines have formed a cartel to rig prices under the pretext of fuel surcharge, reported The Economic Times.



Kenya Airways merger plan not practical says Ethiopian Airline

United Continental president and chief executive officer Jeff Smisek has been given an additional title of chairman, effective December 31.
