Air France to revise Paris hub strategy
Air France, part of the Air France-KLM group, is rethinking its short and medium-haul regional structure that decentralised some operations from its central hub in Paris, according to a report in today's Le Figaro newspaper.



India's Kingfisher Airlines grounded
Despite all its efforts, Kingfisher Airlines lost its flying licence this week as India's Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) refused to renew its Air Operator Permit (AOP) without a viable turnaround plan.



Jebel Ali port expansion on target
The last of the 2752 65 tonne blocks that make up the foundation of the extended quay wall of the one million TEU expansion of Jebel Ali Container Terminal 2 was dropped into place last week.





Long Beach to vote on giant $1.2Bn port project
A massive expansion that will create thousands of jobs and could make the Port of Long Beach the nation's busiest seaport will be up for budget approval next week. The Board of Harbour Commissioners on January 7 is expected to approve the US$1.



East Coast strike off but issues remain
The East Coast dockworkers' strike that would have shuttered cargo terminals at every major port from Houston to Boston beginning this weekend has been averted, but the issues remain unresolved.



Shipping lines bulk up and slow down
The new Marco Polo ship can load 16,000 containers and reach a speed of 24 knots.



Shipping lines cut clean HK fuel deal
Shipping lines will continue to voluntarily use low sulphur diesel in Hong Kong, but only if the government sets a timetable for tough regulatory controls mandating the use of the cleaner fuel, experts said as the Fair Winds Charter, a voluntary two-year
