CSX Corp's first-quarter earnings rose 2.2 percent as the railroad company reduced its expenses amid roughly flat revenue, reported Dow Jones Newswires.



EasyJet names Next boss as chairman
British airline easyJet has named John Barton, the chairman of fashion retailer Next, as its next chairman, reported Reuters. The FTSE-100 low-cost airline said Barton would replace Mike Rake on May 1, when Rake will step down from the role.



Polar Air Cargo to start non-stop Cincinnati-Tokyo service
Polar Air Cargo confirmed its plans to initiate daily non-stop 747-400 express freighter service between Cincinnati, Ohio, and Tokyo, Japan, by the end of April, reported BusinessWire.



Fund to acquire 47% of Israel's El Al Airlines
The FIMI fund agreed to invest up to US$75 million in El Al Israel Airlines in return for up to 47 percent of the flag carrier, Israel's largest private investment fund said.



Hochtief gets bids for airport unit
German builder Hochtief , controlled by Spain's ACS, has received bids for its airport unit, two people with knowledge of the matter said, reported Reuters.

US Airways CEO Doug Parker will receive an estimated US$19.5 million in pay if he loses his job during the merger of US Air and American Airlines, the companies said.

Kuehne & Nagel International reported a five percent increase in first-quarter sales despite difficult market conditions, and said it expects growth this year to come outside of Western Europe. Turnover in the three months through March increased 5.



DHL Express names CFO
DHL, leading logistics company, has appointed Dennis Tan as the chief financial officer for DHL Express, Asia Pacific, reported PR Newswire.
