Malaysian Air narrows Q2 losses
Malaysian flag carrier Malaysian Airline System narrowed its net loss in the second quarter from a year earlier, driven by stronger rise in passenger traffic and cost-cutting measures, reported Dow Jones Newswires.



Auckland Airport annual profit up 25%
New Zealand's Auckland International Airport posted a 25.1 percent rise in annual profit, on the back of higher passenger numbers and aircraft movements, reported Reuters. Net profit was US$141.



LATAM Airlines post $329.8m loss due to weaker real
Latin America's largest carrier, LATAM Airlines, posted a net loss of US$329.8 million in the second quarter, stung by a weaker Brazilian real and higher costs, reported Reuters.





ANA rebrands low-cost airline
All Nippon Airways said its low-cost-carrier venture will be reborn as Vanilla Air in November, as it looks to navigate the increasingly crowded budget-airline market on its own, reported The Wall Street Journal.



Felixstowe port passes
70m TEU milestone

The Port of Felixstowe passed another milestone today when it handled the 70th million TEU since container operations began at the port in the mid-1960s.

Menzies Aviation, the aviation services subsidiary of John Menzies, announced two acquisitions as part of its strategy to expand the business in attractive growth markets.



Brazil airline Azul scraps IPO
Azul Linhas AƩreas Brasileiras, Brazil's third-biggest airline, has given up plans for an initial public offering due to adverse market conditions, reported Reuters.



China Southern plots new routes for A380s
China Southern Airlines is hoping to squeeze profits from its under-performing Airbus A380 fleet by expanding to more international routes, including flights to Sydney, reported Dow Jones Newswires.



Gothenburg port exports rise
The number of export containers passing through the Port of Gothenburg increased by four percent through to the end of June. At the same time, imports fell by one percent.
