Calabar controversy
After at least eight years' delay, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) revealed earlier this year that a contract to dredge the port of Calabar would be awarded by July. Calabar, which is located in the far south east of the country, was historically a very important port, but a combination of silting, underinvestment and the domination of the Lagos ports have seen it lose ground. As planned, the dredging project and a contract to maintain the harbour's access channels have now been awarded to Niger Global Engineering....
