Gatwick expansion plans hit as Air China scraps flights
Gatwick's bid to rival Heathrow as a gateway to important long-haul destinations has been dealt a blow as Air China prepares to scrap its direct flights from the Sussex airport this winter, reported The Sunday Telegraph.



Lufthansa to split 50-plane order with Boeing and Airbus
Deutsche Lufthansa will split an order for long-range jetliners between Airbus and Boeing, giving the US plane maker its first customer for the its upgraded 777, according to three people familiar with the deal, reported Dow Jones Newswires.



Air France to unveil further job cuts
The new chief executive of Air France-KLM will unveil on Wednesday a cost-cutting plan including staff reductions of around 2,600-3,000, according to Les Echos newspaper.





India port plan threat
to new Chinese terminal

Rising competition from ports being built in India could pose a threat to cargo throughput at a new US$500 million container port in Colombo, Sri Lanka, 85 per cent-owned by China Merchants Holdings (International), which also operates the port.



DHL venture launches mobile express service
DHL-Sinotrans, a joint venture of DHL and Sinotrans, has launched a mobile international express service in the central business districts of Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen to avoid traffic jams, reported Xinhua.



Roche picks Lufthansa boss Franz as new chairman
Roche has picked Lufthansa chief executive Christoph Franz to succeed Franz Humer as chairman of its board, filling the top post at a time of change for the world's biggest maker of cancer drugs, reported Reuters.
