South African port tariffs have been increased for the first time in two years but at a lower rate than requested by TPT. The Port Regulator of South Africa actually imposed tariff reductions last year in line with government policy to encourage exports, particularly of manufactured goods. Charges on containers bound for export were cut by an average of 43.2% in 2013. In addition, the Port Regulator imposed a cut in tariffs to be paid into the new excessive tariff increase margin credit (ETIMC) fund....
