China Eastern to take over small carrier
The Shanghai-based Chinese airline giant China Eastern Airlines plans to purchase 20 percent stake of China United Airlines from its parent company, reported Xinhua. The purchase will involve capital of US$13.2 million.

Qantas Airways's cancellation of orders for 35 Boeing Co 787 Dreamliners further clouds the aerospace giant's efforts to make its flagship jet programme profitable, reported The Wall Street Journal.



Air Berlin denies Etihad pushing for new CEO
Air Berlin denied a report that its major shareholder Etihad Airways was pushing for the German airline to find a new permanent chief executive quickly, reported Reuters.





PAL to order several dozen Airbus planes
Philippine Airlines is set to place an order for "several dozen" Airbus jets next week, the single biggest order to be made by the country's largest full-service carrier, people familiar with the deal said, reporte Dow Jones Newswires.



Sri Lanka container volumes slip
Containers handled at Sri Lanka's ports fell 1.8 percent to 1.71 million TEUs in the first five months of the year, though there was recovery in transhipment volumes in May, official data show, reported Lankan Business Online.



Savannah port gets approval for deepening
