Malaysia Airports Holdings has entered the running for Stansted airport, as the owners of London's third hub attempt to stoke up competition in the US$1.6 billion bidding process, reported the Sunday Telegraph.



Fraport prepares new bid for Portugal's ANA
Germany's Fraport and its Australian partner are preparing an "attractive" binding bid for Portuguese airport operator ANA, an executive said, following reports that their preliminary offer fell short of the highest bid, reported Reuters.



China Eastern to buy 60 Airbus aircraft
China's state-run China Eastern Airlines has agreed to buy 60 aircraft from Airbus as it expands its fleet and shifts its focus away from international routes toward meeting growing domestic demand, reported Dow Jones Newswires.





Ex-Qantas execs, investors buy strategic stake
A group of former Qantas executives and their co-investors pushing for a change of strategy has bought a strategic stake in Australia's national airline, the Australian Financial Review reported.



Jet Airways in stake sale talks with Etihad
India's Jet Airways is in talks with Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways to sell a minority stake, an Indian government source said, reported Reuters. The same source said Indian budget carrier SpiceJet is in talks with Malaysia's AirAsia to sell a stake.



Brazil's Gol to cut 850 jobs
Gol Linhas AƩreas, Brazil's second-largest airline, will cut as many as 850 jobs and reduce its fleet next year as a result of the closure of its Webjet subsidiary, the company said in a securities filing, reported Reuters.



Shenzhen port tipped to
overtake HK in 2012

Shenzhen is set to overtake Hong Kong as the world's third-busiest container port this year for the first time ever on an annual basis.



Busan on track for record throughput
The volume of container cargo handled at South Korea's Busan Port is expected to exceed a record high of 17 million TEUs this year, reported Maeil Business Newspaper. Busan Port will process 17.
