Singapore has launched a paperless scheme, thanks to electronic data transfer, in an effort to boost efficiency in the air cargo industry.



Dragonair to rein in plans for expansion
Hong Kong Dragon Airlines, a fully owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific Airways, has reduced its recruitment and fleet expansion plans this year because of the slowdown in the mainland economy and air traffic growth.

British Airways has launched a US$927 million publicly-traded bond issue, using aircraft as collateral, reported Reuters.

With the launch of two new services – the ISC-Bangladesh Service and the Intra-Gulf Service, Evergreen Line will enhance its service network in the Indian-subcontinent and the Gulf.



INTTRA and Vanguard offer E-commerce solution
INTTRA, the largest multi-carrier e-commerce network for ocean shipping and Vanguard Logistics Services, the largest neutral global sea freight consolidator, announced an expanded agreement in which Vanguard has joined INTTRA's NVOCC network.

Global logistics operator DHL, in partnership with The Aspinall Foundation, has delivered a family of nine silverback gorillas from Port Lympne Wild Animal Park in Kent to the Batéké Plateau National Park in the African state of Gabon.

New routes help lift Gatwick profit
London's Gatwick Airport posted a 2.5 percent rise in full year profit, helped by the addition of new routes to countries such as China and Russia and moderate traffic growth, reported Reuters.



Waves sink ship at Brazil's Paranagua port
A gust of wind brought strong waves to Brazil's port of Paranagua over the weekend, knocking over a ship working on the expansion of a container terminal but not affecting exports, a port spokeswoman said, reported Reuters.

The proposed extension of the Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor to Krishnapatnam Port will benefit traders in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, according to Anil Yendluri, Krishnapatnam Port chief executive officer, reported The Hindu.



Jepson re-elected GPA chairman
The Board of Directors of the Georgia Ports Authority have elected Robert Jepson of Savannah to serve a second term as chairman of the board. Jepson was first appointed to the Board of Directors in 2008 and previously served as vice-chairman.
