CHINA TO LEVY 6% VAT ON LOGISTICS SERVICES PAID IN CHINA | | | September 16, 2013 Dear Customer, During 2012 and 2013 the Chinese Government embarked on one of their most ambitious tax reform programs in recent history. The program commenced in January 2012 with the introduction of a pilot program in Shanghai, replacing the Business Tax (BT) with a Value Added Tax (VAT) for three service sectors including transportation services, as a first step to replace BT with VAT across the all service sectors in mainland China (excluding Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau). This change is intended to promote the development of the services sector in China and has significant ramifications for multinational companies doing business in, or with, China. Companies trading with China should expect to pay 6% VAT on all freight and other auxiliary logistics services based on the following specifics by mode and Incoterm: | | | VAT Fee Effective October 1, 2013 DHL Global Forwarding USA will charge this as a pass-through cost when applicable. It will appear as a separate line item on our invoice as "VAT Fee". We will keep you updated on any further developments, but if you have any questions on this subject please contact your Account Manager. Thank you for choosing DHL Global Forwarding as your logistics partner. Best regards, | | | Tim Robertson Ahmet Erener Thomas Kuhles
